ALESSANDRO DE MADDALENA (Milan, Italy, 1970) is one of the world’s foremost shark experts. He’s a researcher, lecturer, writer, illustrator and photographer. Since 2010 he has hosted over 60 expeditions to observe sharks and orcas with Apex Shark Expeditions, Rodney Fox Shark Expeditions, and Orca Norway. From 2017 to 2022 he was an Adjunct Professor of Marine Vertebrate Zoology for the post-graduate course in Marine Sciences at the University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy. He authored or co-authored 20 books on sharks, 43 research reports in peer-reviewed scientific journals and 85 articles in popular and professional magazines, published in 18 Nations. In 2021, together with his wife, biologist Alessandra Baldi, he created the Shark Museum,

located in Simon’s Town, South Africa.

 

PAOLO GALLI (Milan, Italy, 1965) is a Professor of Marine Ecology at the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences (DISAT), University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy. He’s the Director of the Marine Research and High Education Center (MaRHE Center), based in the Maldives (Faafu Atoll, Magoodhoo Island). He’s also the President of the International Master Degree in Marine Sciences, a course jointly offered by the University of Milano-Bicocca with The Maldives National University.
